Why magical girls?
One of the main reasons I got so involved with the anime fandom when I was very young (six or so) was my experience with several sparkly and cute magical girl anime (Sailormoon, Tonde Buurin, and Cardcaptor Sakura). And in those anime, my favourite parts would be when Sailormoon waved her wand around and shouted out such poetic phrases to vanquish the enemy. I've always marvelled at the female protagonist's ability to maintain grace while creating such beautiful effects. From then on, one of my favourite parts of anime are the attacks and transformations, simply for their beautiful effects and music.
I've always loved TCGs since they were first brought to the Net, and just started being active in a few of my own. Once I was in, I was instantly inspired to create a TCG of my own. I had planned to make a Mermaid Melody one before, but the fandom was declining as of late, and I wanted something that would appeal to more people. I thought of my favourite aspect of anime, and it hit me. Magical girl attacks and transformations.
What's up with the name?
Lovely Tempest actually comes from one of Wedding Peach's attacks in the manga, "Lovely Peach Tempest". I've always adored the word "tempest", and thought that it really fit the style of mahou shoujo. The protagonists are girls (hence the "lovely"), and yet they are also strong, passionate, and powerful fighters (hence "tempest", which means "storm").
